Apartment Tour: Living room
I had plans to make a video tour of my apartment, but that hasn’t happened and requires a tad more effort than I can provide to the project. Sooooo… how’s about some Instagrams instead?
We’ll start with the living room.
The new rug makes the room so cozy. That empty spot is where a future chair will go.

Today I realized something about myself. I assume everyone sees me as my best friends and family do. Accept me for me, no judgements, all love. Makes me wonder how many versions of me there are floating around in people’s heads. What do they see? What don’t they see? Do they really matter?

1. I have a test tomorrow and today is really the only day I’ve studied for it. Actually, I’m fresh into my studying today. Not sure why I chose this plan, but I’ma gonna go with it. I also don’t know why I chose to write a post when I should be doing something else.
2. There is someone banging on the snare drum of their drum set with some cymballization here and there. I...

School has begun. I’m in my new apartment. Life is pretty good right now.
I’ve started reading Little House on the Prairie before I go to sleep. It’s the perfect book to read because it requires zero brain power and also puts me in this cozy Silver Dollar City-like mood. This combined with my all-white bedding = a perfect snooze.
While we’re on the subject, a few weeks...

Daddio made some graduation invites for me. I’m so excited ‘bout these! I didn’t want to order the invites through OSU because this girl doesn’t do anything that is not a true reflection of herself. Fancy scrolls, fancy paper, fancy wording. Fancy is not Hayley.

20 reasons why I didn't study today
1. I got up at 7:30 to get caught up on my horse dissection. Can’t be productive today without a nap.
2. Look at this kitchen. It hasn’t been cleaned in a week. Now is definitely the time.
3. Since I’m already in the kitchen I should make breakfast.
4. Gross. I smell like formaldehyde. Shower time.
5. Adam, we need to eat lunch.
6. Hey! The Stillwater Arts Festival is this...
Oprah had it going on today
Please don’t stop reading.
The show was about how important it is to know how animals are processed before they get to our table aaaand vegan diets. Oprah had Lisa Ling visit a slaughter house in Oregon and view the entire process. If you are able to, I highly suggest watching this episode when it airs again tonight at 11:00 pm.
It’s so easy to turn your head to the...

I’m excited about the apartment I got today and that’s all I can think about. I must study but that apartment is on my mind! Exciting things should not happen in my life while I’m in school. I’ve wasted about 2 hours drawing the floor plan of the apartment and arranging my furniture. Gosh darn it’s such a cute place. I can’t wait to be in it.
Also not good:...
Adam and I are in Chicago. Kelsey and Zivi are taking care of us and we are staying at their home. They are living in a retired ballroom that now houses a creative bunch of people. There are 8 people that live here. It’s a lot of fun to see their life here after hearing about it for so long. Today was full of a bit of thrifty sifting, driving through downtown and an improv session that...

I'm rejuvenated →

I am envious of a lot of people right now who have graduated and are working/married/have kids. When I start to feel this way it means I need to spend some time at the teaching hospital to get rejuvenated and remember the fun parts of this here career path I’ve chosen. I also need a moment to not be inside my head with thoughts of school and tests and people at school. Good thing I’ve got a kick...

Oh Gertie. This week. I have not been successful. New habits need to emerge from the deep depths of my abilities and stay in place. I’m so poetic. That is all.

1. Two cans of corn and one can of green beans. That’s all I needed. $81 later…
2. I discovered 5 veterinary magazines that offer free subscriptions to vet students. Yee Haw cowboy!! I subscribed to all of them. They offer different things. One has peer-reviewed articles about cases, treatment methods, etc. Another is about being an economically efficient veterinarian. That’s...

1. I got some coffee at aspen and drove around looking at houses/apartments for rent. That was a lot of fun and I’m thinking about making it a Sunday morning ritual. It would be more fun if I had a doggie to ride along with me
2. Three o’clock is too late to start studying. Oh well.
3. Please join me in prayer for a snow day on Tuesday. I have four tests/quizzes (there’s no...

I've been thinking about things again
My resolution this year is to put myself in situations that are good for me but also take me out of my comfort zone.
1. I went to a cardio kickboxing class at the Colvin tonight. It was really hard. I didn’t like it. I decided I would never go back. I was at the front of the room but that didn’t stop me from just standing there when I didn’t want to do jumping jacks. I kept...

What doesn't work for me
1. Studying with my friends. Why? Announcing something they just figured out when I haven’t figured it out yet stresses me out. Also, if I get interrupted it takes me about 15 minutes to get back on track. I get interrupted a lot during group study sessions. Solution: Hang out with me and only me.
2. Making study guides or note cards. Why? I spend more time making them than studying them....

a HAY list
Hello again! It’s Hayley! I missed you! It’s been awhile since I let my thoughts find their way to a list on my blog.
1. Knitting! I love it! I knitted all my Christmas gifts this year. At first I wasn’t going to give gifts this year because i. it stresses me out financially and ii. i’ve been kinda busy this year and wanted to spend my time with family and friends, not...

I wish my physiology professor taught all my classes. To be honest he’s probably the most qualified. He has said some pretty monumental things these past two, going on three weeks.
Like:
If you do what makes sense in physiology you are most times correct.
If you don’t know how a drug works you have no right to give it. If you are my doctor and I ask you how that drug works that...
