What doesn’t work for me
1. Studying with my friends. Why? Announcing something they just figured out when I haven’t figured it out yet stresses me out. Also, if I get interrupted it takes me about 15 minutes to get back on track. I get interrupted a lot during group study sessions. Solution: Hang out with me and only me.
2. Making study guides or note cards. Why? I spend more time making them than studying them. Solution: Don’t prepare the material, just dive in!
3. Studying somewhere that looks like you are supposed to study there, i.e. a desk. I like big tables with lots of chairs around them for my backpack and feet. Solution: sorry desk, I’m moving to the dining room.
4. Studying everything the professor has given us to study three days before an exam. I did this before every exam last semester. I learned a lot but imagine how much I would know if I had studied little bits at a time without the pressures of an exam being a few days away. Solution: git er done! and disconnect the TV.
Whew. I feel better now. I make these lists in my head while I’m driving, etc. and can’t wait to get home so I can put it in writing. I just realized that these are my resolutions. They needed to be heard.
